On 19 January 2024, team Sasol in China demonstrated a profound commitment to corporate and civic responsibility through the organisation of a charity yard sale event after its annual town hall meeting at its Nanjing plant.
Employees were encouraged to contribute to the charity yard sale by bringing in personal items that were no longer in use, such as food, beverages, decorative items, books, and handcrafted goods. These items were then made available for purchase at the yard sale, creating a marketplace buzzing with the spirit of giving.
In a creative twist, the yard sale also featured an auction segment. This exciting addition saw the auctioning of unique items and services provided by both management and staff. The offerings were diverse and intriguing, ranging from sports coaching sessions like badminton, table tennis, tennis, swimming, and yoga, to one-on-one executive lunches, parenting coaching sessions, ukulele lessons, and various arts and crafts workpieces. There were even ‘service acceleration cards‘ up for grabs, adding a unique flavor to the auction.
The event was a resounding success, culminating in the collection of 9950.5 RMB. This amount was earmarked for a cause close to the hearts of all involved – the educational support of underprivileged orphans. The funds raised are set to make a difference in the lives of these children, providing them with opportunities for learning and growth that they might not have had otherwise.
