Sasol Social Investment Programmes Empower Communities

Sasol’s impactful Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programmes are dedicated to addressing pressing social needs in communities and enable economic inclusion.

These are based on key focus areas such as quality education, quality health, community infrastructure and environmental stewardship and Sasol for Good programmes.

Over the years, Sasol for Good has been donating essential services to school children and communities across the regions where Sasol operates, including Mozambique. The education support initiatives are aimed at improving the learning outcomes and the wellbeing learners.

In June, learners from eMdibini Combined Secondary School, a non- fee-paying school in Govan Mbeki Municipality, in Secunda, received the following donation from Sasol:

  • 220 school bags for grade R to 3 learners
  • 70 school uniforms
  • 68 annual supply of personal hygiene packs to girls in grade 7 to 9

Other schools, such as Ekurhuleni Primary School and Ezibeleni School for Learners with Special Needs in Gauteng, have received second-hand furniture from Sasol.

Similar activities have also taken place around different communities in Secunda and Sasolburg, in the Free State province. The Sasolburg and Natref Operations recently donated 126 winter school uniforms to NGOs in the Metsimaholo Local Municipality, in the Free State.

At Qondulwazi Secondary School near Standerton, in Mpumalanga, learners were provided with sanitary towels, school uniforms, and backpacks ensuring that no learner is left behind due to a lack of basic resources.

By addressing both educational and health-related challenges, Sasol continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of learners, helping them overcome barriers to education and reach their full potential.

Through these efforts, Sasol strengthens its role as a responsible corporate citizen, committed to nurturing the potential of South Africa’s youth and contributing meaningfully to the future of the country.

As one of South Africa’s most prolific private investors in education and skills development across the education spectrum, Sasol’s supports initiatives from early childhood development to graduate development.

Some of the programmes include the participation of employees, through the Sasol for Good volunteering programme that encourages employees to get involved in their communities by volunteering their time, skills and resources.
