On Friday 26 May 2023, Sasol handed knee blankets, winter scarves and beanies to organisations that benefit 310 senior citizens and people living with disabilities in the City of Tshwane Region 7 at a function held at the Ekangala Community Hall to help curb the harsh impact of winter. Similar winter woollies were handed to 175 senior citizens and people living with disabilities in Metsimaholo on 2 June 2023 at an event at the Abrahamsrust resort in Sasolburg.

“With winter knocking on our doors and minimum temperatures starting to fall below zero, the Sasol Winter Warm drive is an initiative that aims to make a difference to vulnerable and less fortunate people in our fenceline communities. By providing these items, we trust that they will serve as a valuable means to curb the harsh highveld winter in the Tshwane and northern Free State this year,” said Thuli Mbuli, Head Community Affairs at Sasol’s Sasolburg and Ekandustria Operations.
Apart from the gifts, recipients were also treated to a hot meal and coffee at the handover events warming body and soul with goodwill and a bite to eat.

According to Mbuli, Sasol strives to align its investments with the specific needs of the communities in which it operates. “Our Winter Warmer drive forms part of our Sasol for Good outreach, which aims to assist the most vulnerable who live around the areas where we operate, in this case in Tshwane Region 7 and Metsimaholo. Sasol has been rendering support in winter for many years and this year we focus on the elderly and people with disabilities. Sasol conducts a range of programmes as part of its community support efforts that impact education, healthcare, infrastructure, volunteerism and access to work skills through our Bridge to Work programme,” she said.
