Sasol donates fuel to the Emalahleni Municipality

Team Sasol donated 34 000 litres of fuel to the Emalahleni Municipality to support its efforts to effectively render services to communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“Sasol, as a responsible and active corporate citizen, has been supporting its fence-line communities since the announcement of the national lockdown last year March, as part of Government’s efforts to contain the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has also established relationship with the Emalahleni Municipality through engagements regarding Social Labour Plan (SLP) programme that has been recently finalised. The SLP programme will encompass projects that have been identified for the next 5 years which our company will be implementing in Emalahleni,” said Mashudu Ndou, Head Community Affairs at Sasol Energy Operations in Secunda.  

“While the country was on level 5 lockdown battling the pandemic, Sasol made a commitment to donate fuel to Emalahleni Municipality and three other municipalities in Mpumalanga, to aid community outreach activities. Therefore, Sasol is today honouring that commitment by officially handing over 15 000 litres of ULP93 fuel to the municipality,” Mashudu continued.

The donated fuel will be used towards assisting the municipality optimise its service delivery to communities as the pandemic continues. These services include water provision, waste management, emergency services, and the transportation of essential needs to communities.

Additionally, Sasol will also donate 500 litres of hand sanitiser to support the municipality fight scourge of COVID-19 virus.
