Sasol Enterprise and Supplier Development hosted a three-day 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) Masterclass under the theme, “Embracing a digital future: The Impact of 4IR in Engineering and IT” at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg from 18 to 20 February 2020.
The event was targeted at SMMEs operating in the engineering and ICT sectors with the intent to showcase industry innovations, explore the main pillars of 4IR and share research looking into how this evolution is likely to disrupt these industries.
Among the speakers at the event was Mteto Nyati, Group Chief Executive at Altron and author of the book, “BETTING on a DARKIE”. Nyathi delivered a keynote address on “Personal Mastery”, focusing on the journey towards understanding oneself and the significance of continual learning and development as a tool to achieving success and balance. Other speakers covered a range of carefully selected topics which addressed industry trends and focused on new technologies impacting the engineering and ICT sectors.
Also in attendance were various Sasol key internal stakeholders and market leaders who engaged with the SMMEs and provided them with insights on how to effectively position their businesses to operate competitively in a digital era.
The three-day masterclass concluded with a pitching workshop where selected SMMEs were taken through a pitching workshop and given the opportunity to pitch their businesses to generic companies interested in partnering with SMMEs on various opportunities.
As part of our Inclusive Business mandate, Sasol has committed to strive towards a transformed, sustainable, and high-performing supplier base.
