Com um investimento de 760 Milhões de Dólares Americanos, o Projecto PSA (Contrato de Partilha de Produção), da Sasol, faz parte dos chamados Projectos de Gás e Energia de Temane cuja primeira pedra foi lançada hoje, 28 de Março, pelo Presidente da República, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.
Durante a fase de construção das infra-estruturas de produção e processamento de gás natural, na sua fase de pico, o Projecto vai empregar, directamente, mais de 3 000 moçambicanos.
O Projecto PSA irá produzir 23 milhões de Gigajoules de gás natural por ano que, para além de permitir a geração de 450 MW de electricidade, através da Central Térmica de Temane, serão usados para a produção de 30 000 toneladas de gás de cozinha por ano, naquela que será a primeira unidade do género em Moçambique.
No seu discurso, o Presidente da República, endereçou palavras de apreço aos investidores por acreditarem no país. “Quero Reconhecer a Sasol e a ENH pelo seu empenho na nossa agenda de retentabilização dos nossos recursos naturais, em benefício dos moçambicanos. Com estes investimentos, Moçambique está a posicionar-se como uma potência energética”, disse o Presidente na Sua locução.
O Projecto da Sasol contempla ainda a produção de 4 000 barris de petróleo leve por dia, para exportação, o que representa um marco importante na história de Moçambique.
Priscillah Mabelane, Vice-Presidente Executiva para a área de Energia, por seu turno, durante o evento, disse que a Sasol está comprometida com o desenvolvimento de Moçambique. “A Sasol orgulha-se de fazer parceria com a ENH, EDM e Globeleq destes empolgantes projectos de gás e electricidade, que irão permitir a expansão da rede já existentes de infra-estruturas de monetização do gás e criação de empregos, o fornecimento de energia sustentável e benefícios duradouros para o país.”
Recorde-se que para além da Central Térmica de Temane, o gás de Pande e Temane já é monetizado no país através da produção de energia eléctrica em 5 outras centrais termoeléctricas, nomeadamente a antiga Central Térmica de Temane (hoje apelidada de Temaninho), a Central Termoeléctrica Kuvaninga, a Central Termoeléctrica de Ressano Garcia (CTRG), a Central Termoeléctrica Gigawatt e a Central Termoeléctrica de Maputo.
Soil Turning Ceremony of the Gas and Energy Projects held in Temane
With an investment of USD 760 Million, Sasol PSA Project (Production Sharing Agreement), is part of the so-called Temane Gas and Energy Projects whose soil turning ceremony was held Monday, 28 March, by the Mozambique President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.
During the construction phase of the natural gas production and processing facilities, the project will directly employ, at its peak, more than 3 000 Mozambicans.
The PSA Project will produce 23 million Gigajoules of natural gas per annum, which, in addition to allowing for the generation of 450 MW of electricity, through the Temane Thermal Power Plant (CTT), will be used to produce 30 000 tons of LPG (cooking gas) per year, in what will be the first unit of its kind in Mozambique.
In his speech, the President of the Republic, expressed his appreciation to the investors for believing in the country. “I want to acknowledge Sasol and ENH for their commitment to our agenda of our natural resources monetisation for the benefit of Mozambicans. With these investments, Mozambique is positioning itself as an important player in the Energy sector,” said the President.
Priscillah Mabelane, Energy Executive Vice President, during the event, stated that Sasol is committed to the development of Mozambique. “Sasol is proud to partner with ENH, EDM and Globeleq in these exciting gas and electricity projects, which will expand the already existing network of in-country gas monetisation infrastructures, creating jobs, and enabling sustainable and long-lasting in-country benefits.”
Remember that in addition to the Temane Thermal Power Plant, the gas from Pande and Temane is already monetised in Mozambique through the production of electricity in 5 other power plants, namely the former Temane Power Plant (now called Temaninho), the Kuvaninga Thermoelectric Power Plant, the Ressano Garcia Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTRG), the Gigawatt Thermoelectric Power Plant, and the Maputo Thermoelectric Power Plant.
