<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Tuesday, 13 January 2026, Sasol awarded cash incentives totalling R 200 000 to top-performing matriculants from Mpumalanga schools. The awards were extended during the announcement of Grade 12 provincial results at a ceremony held in Secunda. The 20 beneficiaries of the awards were five top performing learners in Mathematics, Physical Science, Technical Mathematics and Technical Science, who each received a sum R10 000. The funds will go towards the learners’ registration fees at any recognised South African institution of higher education.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Awarding top-achievers is in line with Sasol’s strategic objective of supporting the teaching of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in schools. This act also aims to encourage more learners to study these subjects.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Over the years, Sasol has made considerable investments in education through various initiatives such as merit bursaries, sponsorship of mobile science labs to under resourced schools, Sasol Energy Innovation Challenge, the National Skills Competition. These initiatives play a vital role in enabling excellence in science education.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The sponsorship of the provincial Grade 12 Awards is part of a long-standing partnership with the National Department of Education. In Mpumalanga, Sasol has been hosting Grade 12 Merit Awards in Secunda for the past 30 years, where learners from various districts are recognised and awarded for their outstanding performance. This year, Sasol will continue to recognise top achievers at district level across the province.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Initiative to Support Gender-Based Violence Survivors Launches in Secunda</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As part of Sasol&#8217;s Gender-Based Violence and Femicide response plan, a Psychosocial Support Programme was launched in Secunda at the end of November 2025.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Psychosocial Support Programme, which will run for a period of four years, will provide trauma counselling, emotional support, mental wellness education and sensitisation sessions to local communities, in what is a multi-sectoral approach to tackling the scourge of gender-based violence.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The launch of the programme coincided with the observation of 16 Day of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, which runs from 25 November to 10 December every year.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The establishment of the Psychosocial Support Programme was informed by the outcome of a Sasol baseline study, which revealed a need for psychosocial support for communities around Secunda and Sasolburg. It also identified gaps in access to trauma counselling and coordinated referral systems. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Community organisations had reported being overstretched and inadequately resourced, highlighting the need for a coordinated intervention. The study was carried out through engagements with social workers, NPOs, Thuthuzela Care Centres, the South African Police Services (SAPS) Victim-Friendly Units and other stakeholders.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7866" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-300x200.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-768x512.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-370x247.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-270x180.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-570x380.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/social-media-GBVF-740x493.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Programme launch</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sasol launched the programme on 28 November 2025 in eMbalenhle, outside Secunda, teaming up with various stakeholders that provide assistance to survivors of gender-based violence, such as SAPS, Department of Social Development, National Prosecuting Authority, Department of Justice and local Non-Profit Organisations. These organisations play a vital role in assisting those impacted by gender-based violence.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Psychosocial Support Programme will be implemented in partnership with social welfare organisations across Secunda and Sasolburg and will operate through designated access points in both regions. To ensure the effectiveness of the initiative, ten unemployed youth graduate social workers, 5 from each town,  have been enlisted to offer support to survivors, for a period of 2-years.  </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Another cohort of 10 unemployed youth graduate social workers will be deployed for further period of 2 years. Sasol will also continue with the upgrading of victim friendly rooms at police stations in the respective towns.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The social workers will deliver a suite of services that include:<br>&#8211; Trauma counselling and emotional support<br>&#8211; Crisis intervention and trauma debriefing<br>&#8211; Individual and family support sessions<br>&#8211; Referrals to: Department of Health, Department of Social Development, SAPS and local NPOs.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-1024x683.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-7867" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-2048x1365.jpeg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-370x247.jpeg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-270x180.jpeg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-570x380.jpeg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Social-media-GBVF-3-740x493.jpeg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The launch demonstrates Sasol&#8217;s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals and strengthening community-based response systems through psychosocial interventions.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On 21 October 2025, the #SasolFoundation celebrated bright young innovators at Sasol Place in Johannesburg during the annual <strong>Sasol Girls Hackathon</strong>, held in recognition of <strong>International Day of the Girl Child</strong>. The event brought together <strong>Grade 8 learners from across South Africa</strong> to explore how technology and innovation can solve real-world environmental challenges.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This year’s theme, &#8216;Sustainability and Air Pollution,&#8217; challenged learners to apply coding, robotics, and data-driven thinking to design creative solutions for cleaner, healthier communities. With guidance from expert mentors from our Digital Studio, as well as educational partners including the <a href="https://osizweni.org.za/">Osizweni Science Centre</a> and <a href="https://brcsa.org/">Boitjhorisong Resource Centre</a>, participants collaborated in teams to tackle hands-on challenges that encouraged problem-solving, innovation, and teamwork.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The hackathon forms part of the Sasol Foundation’s ongoing commitment to advancing STEM education and empowering young women to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). By nurturing digital skills and curiosity at an early age, we aim to help build a generation ready to lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) &#8211; equipped to use technology to create sustainable change.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7398" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-370x247.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-270x180.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-570x380.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Sasol-MMEC2-740x493.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="682" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-1024x682.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-7399" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-2048x1365.jpeg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-370x247.jpeg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-270x180.jpeg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-570x380.jpeg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Francisco-MMEC-740x493.jpeg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Painel 10 – Sustentabilidade</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="988" height="1024" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-988x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7404" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-988x1024.jpg 988w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-290x300.jpg 290w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-768x796.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-1482x1536.jpg 1482w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-1977x2048.jpg 1977w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-370x383.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-270x280.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-570x591.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Ovidio-MMEC-1-740x767.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 988px) 100vw, 988px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>MMEC 2025 – Sasol Participates as Gold Sponsor</strong></h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Maputo, the Mozambican capital, once again hosted the 11th Mozambique Mining and Energy Conference and Exhibition ( <a href="https://mmec-moz.com/">MMEC </a>) between 7 and 8 May 2025. This conference is an annual platform that brings together the main stakeholders from the country’s and the continent’s energy and mining sectors, government decision-makers, and professionals from various global specialities, offering the opportunity to interact with leaders and key decision-makers.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="680" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-1024x680.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7401" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-300x199.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-768x510.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-1536x1021.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-2048x1361.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-370x246.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-270x179.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-570x379.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-4-740x492.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sasol in Mozambique once again participated in the event as a Gold Sponsor, reinforcing its position as a key player in the sustainable development of the country’s energy and mining sectors.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The event was attended by the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, who visited Sasol’s stand on the first day, leaving words of encouragement for the work carried out by the company, particularly regarding its contribution to the country’s socio-economic development.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During his speech at the opening ceremony, Chapo highlighted that the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA Project) will ensure the domestic production of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), reducing imports by around 70%, as well as supplying the Temane Thermal Power Plant (CTT), which will generate 450 MW of electricity.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sasol took part in two (2) discussion panels at the event, namely:</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Panel 5 – Oil and Gas Downstream</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="727" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-1024x727.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7402" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-1024x727.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-300x213.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-768x545.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-1536x1091.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-2048x1454.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-370x263.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-270x192.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-570x405.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MEMEC-2025-8-1-740x525.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Francisco Augusto, Vice President Mozambique Operations, represented Sasol in this panel, where he reviewed the crucial role of the concessions operated and participated in by Sasol, emphasising the importance of the natural gas value chain as a catalyst for the country’s industrial and economic development.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In his address, Francisco Augusto highlighted the contribution of the PSA Licence, with the LPG processing plant set to begin commissioning this semester. This project will enrich the national energy matrix, also creating the conditions for Mozambique to reaffirm itself as a strategic player in the regional energy sector.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Panel 10 – Sustainability</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="727" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-1024x727.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7403" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-1024x727.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-300x213.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-768x545.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-1536x1091.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-2048x1454.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-370x263.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-270x192.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-570x405.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SASOL-MMEC-2025-6-1-740x525.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In a second appearance, Sasol in Mozambique Country Manager, Ovídio Rodolfo, provided an overview on the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, which is fundamentally based on the Local Development Agreements (LDAs).</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During his remarks, Ovídio Rodolfo shared that the first cycle of the LDAs is now in its fifth and final year of implementation, with around 90% of the approved budget of 20 million US dollars for the 2020–2025 period already invested, benefiting 37 communities in Govuro and Inhassoro.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Also on this panel, Rodolfo emphasised that, in addition to the amount invested under the LDAs, Sasol has allocated around 35 million US dollars to various other projects benefiting the communities surrounding its operations.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In another development, a panoramic overview was given of the second Local Development Agreements, scheduled to be signed this semester, highlighting the duplication of the financial investment as well as the expansion of the beneficiary communities, now also including the district of Vilankulo.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-1024x576.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7391" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-300x169.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-768x432.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-2048x1153.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-370x208.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-270x152.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-570x321.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-03-3-740x416.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Sasol Breaks Ground on New Water Supply System in Govuro</strong></h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sasol has yesterday, 24 April, officially launched the construction of another water supply system — this time in Maluvane, Govuro district, Inhambane province. The infrastructure, financed by the company under the framework of the Local Development Agreements (LDAs), will serve three neighbourhoods in the locality and will include around 500 household connections and 10 public standpipes, reinforcing Sasol’s ongoing commitment to sustainable community development.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The ground-breaking ceremony, symbolically launching the project, was presided over by the District Administrator of Govuro, Fernando Doda Muzobingua. The project responds to a primary need of the Maluvane community and aims to improve access to clean and safe drinking water in a secure and efficient manner.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the first phase, a support tower with elevated water tanks will be built and connected to the distribution network. The second phase will include the construction of a 20-kilometre-long main pipeline, connecting boreholes to the central network, ensuring consistent delivery of the essential resource.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For Fernando Doda Muzobingua, the project marks an important step in improving quality of life in the district. “Without water, there is no health, no development. This project represents a decisive step for the wellbeing of our population,” he declared.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Ovídio Rodolfo, Sasol’s General Manager in Mozambique, stated that the initiative reflects the company’s deep commitment to community welfare. “This project is a reflection of our commitment to sustainable solutions that have a real impact on people’s lives,” he said.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="775" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-1024x775.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7393" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-1024x775.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-300x227.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-768x581.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-1536x1162.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-2048x1550.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-370x280.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-270x204.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-570x431.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-740x560.jpg 740w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Photo-02-2-80x60.jpg 80w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A local resident of Maluvane expressed the community’s excitement at the beginning of the construction works. “We walk long distances for good water, and even then, it’s not always clean. Now we see a better future on the horizon, once the infrastructure is delivered,” said Elisa Massingue. “There was a time we thought Sasol had forgotten the commitment made in 2019 — which was renewed in 2022 with the opening of two boreholes. Today, seeing this project move forward, we feel a deep satisfaction and a hope that, this time, tomorrow will be different,” she added.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This system joins other similar interventions financed by Sasol in the districts of Govuro and Inhassoro, including the systems of Chimedje, Pande Sede, Colonga, and Chipongo. Under the Water and Sanitation pillar of the LDAs, Sasol is investing approximately five million US dollars to improve water coverage and ensure that communities have access to a safe water source within a 30-minute walking distance.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At Sasol, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn with confidence and dignity. That’s why, as we hit the road for our <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sasolmzansi/">#SasolMzansiTour</a> 2.0, we’re taking more than just a scenic journey along South Africa’s breathtaking coastline — we’re taking meaningful steps to uplift our communities and open doors to brighter futures.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">From 10 to 16 April 2025, our Sasol Mzansi Tour 2.0 winners, along with our influencers, embarked on an unforgettable seven-day adventure. Together, we’ll explore the rich beauty, culture, and heritage of our nation, experiencing local tourist hotspots, indulging in authentic South African cuisine, and enjoying premium accommodation that showcases the best of what our country has to offer.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But the heart of this tour goes beyond the sights and sounds. It’s about making a real difference. As part of our commitment to social upliftment, we’re proud to be donating 1 200 school uniforms to learners from underprivileged backgrounds in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. For many families, the cost of a school uniform is an overwhelming expense, and we’re determined to help change that.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="472" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-1024x472.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7359" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-1024x472.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-300x138.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-768x354.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-1536x708.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-370x171.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-270x125.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-570x263.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-740x341.jpg 740w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-2-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI.jpg 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our winners and influencers will join us at Sekelani Primary School in KwaZulu-Natal to hand over these uniforms personally. It’s a moment of connection, where we’ll engage with students, teachers, and community members, sharing in the excitement and hope that education brings.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="#SasolMzansiTour 2.0 | Handover of school uniforms #SasolinSociety #SasolFriendlyNeighbour" width="770" height="433" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hljacRV9uPo?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As Sarel Booyens, Head of our South African Corporate Social Investment Programme Execution, puts it:<br><em>“Millions of children face financial barriers that prevent them from accessing education fully — something as simple as not having a school uniform can hold them back. Through this initiative, we want to give learners the confidence and dignity they deserve, helping improve attendance and academic performance.”</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This donation isn’t just about clothing. It’s about nurturing pride, promoting equality, and building a sense of belonging in the classroom. Mrs LL Radebe, Acting Principal at Sekelani Primary School, captured it perfectly:<br><em>“Uniforms promote unity and equality within the school environment. Providing students with school uniforms does more than just meet a basic need; it instils a sense of pride and belonging, which is essential for learners’ personal and academic growth.”</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="472" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-1024x472.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7361" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-1024x472.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-300x138.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-768x354.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-1536x708.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-370x170.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-270x124.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-570x263.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-740x341.jpg 740w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-4-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI.jpg 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We’re also extending this support to Sakhikamva High School in the Eastern Cape. Mr Lucky Macozoma, Sakhiamva High School Principle, shared his thoughts:<br><em>“Uniforms help to create a more positive and focused learning atmosphere. This initiative will help reduce any feelings of stigma or exclusion among students who cannot afford uniforms, contributing to a more inclusive school environment.”</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For us at Sasol, initiatives like this are deeply personal. They reflect our values, our commitment to community upliftment, and our belief in the power of education to transform lives. Through the Sasol Mzansi Tour 2.0, we’re not just fueling cars — we’re fueling futures.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="472" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-1024x472.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7360" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-1024x472.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-300x138.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-768x354.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-1536x708.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-370x171.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-270x125.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-570x263.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI-740x341.jpg 740w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Image-3-Sasol-Mzansi-Tour-CSI.jpg 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sasol’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives are dedicated to addressing critical social needs within the communities where the company operates. A key focus of Sasol’s community development strategy is ensuring a high quality of life for individuals, with particular emphasis on health and education. Through a variety of projects and partnerships, Sasol continues to make a meaningful impact on society, contributing to sustainable development and improving the well-being of local communities.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of Sasol’s standout initiatives is the <a href="https://society.sasol.com/sasol-for-good/">Sasol For Good</a> Back-to-School Campaign, which aims to support learners from disadvantaged backgrounds who face significant challenges in accessing basic school necessities, particularly school uniforms. The financial burden of purchasing uniforms often leads to exclusion, low self-esteem, and diminished academic performance. Sasol recognises the critical role that education plays in breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering future generations. In addressing this need, Sasol’s Back-to-School campaign provides tangible support to learners, ensuring they are properly equipped to succeed in their educational journey.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Supporting Learners at Vusumuzi Primary School</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the notable successes of the campaign has been Sasol’s contribution to Vusumuzi Primary School, located in the Siyathemba region of Dipaleseng Municipality. Sasol, alongside donations from its employees, provided school uniforms to Grade R and Grade 1 learners at the school. This initiative has been instrumental in addressing the financial constraints faced by parents and ensuring that approximately 582 young learners have the necessary resources to attend school confidently and feel included. By removing barriers to participation, Sasol helps nurture a sense of belonging and self-worth among these learners, which in turn boosts their academic performance and overall well-being.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Addressing Health Needs: Menstrual Health Support</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="alignleft size-medium"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="300" height="200" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-300x200.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7271" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-300x200.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-768x512.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-370x247.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-270x180.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-570x380.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4790-740x493.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In line with its commitment to holistic support, Sasol has also focused on improving the health and hygiene of young learners. As part of the Back-to-School campaign, Sasol provided a 12-month supply of sanitary towels to Grade 6 and Grade 7 girls at Vusumuzi Primary School. This thoughtful initiative ensures that girls do not miss school due to menstruation, a challenge that often leads to academic disruption and emotional distress. By prioritising menstrual health, Sasol helps promote gender equity in education, empowering girls to attend school regularly and participate fully in their learning experiences.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Extending Support to Other Schools</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="alignright size-medium"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="300" height="200" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-300x200.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7283" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-300x200.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-768x512.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-370x247.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-270x180.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-570x380.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/IMG_4807-740x493.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Back-to-School Campaign is not limited to Vusumuzi Primary School. Other schools, such as Ekurhuleni Primary School and Ezibeleni School for Learners with Special Needs in Gauteng, also benefited from Sasol’s contributions. These schools received second-hand furniture from the demolition of Mining’s Brandspruit Hostel, medical consumables, school shoes, school bags, stationary and 12-month supply of sanitary towels. By repurposing materials and ensuring that educational institutions are better equipped, Sasol is helping to create conducive learning environments where students can thrive. The Back-to-School drive will culminate in a distribution of donations to schools in the <a href="https://www.govanmbeki.gov.za/">Govan Mbeki </a>and <a href="https://lekwalm.gov.za/">Lekwa Municipalities</a>, ensuring that even more learners benefit from Sasol’s support as they embark on their educational journeys.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sasol’s Corporate Social Investment initiatives, particularly the Back-to-School campaign, reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to building stronger, healthier, and more educated communities. By addressing both educational and health-related challenges, Sasol continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of learners, helping them overcome barriers to education and reach their full potential. Through initiatives like these, Sasol is not just investing in the present but also sowing the seeds for a brighter, more equitable future.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Friday 14 February 2025 Sasol donated desks and chairs to two community learning centres in the Vaal Triangle.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sasol provided 400 chairs and desks to the Oasis of Praise Community Centre, a non-profit organisation in Sedibeng. The centre renders services to learners across the Free State, North West, and Gauteng provinces and has a mandate to accommodate 400 learners in writing their pre-entry university examinations. The donation enables the centre to accommodate these learners and to play a pivotal role in having them accepted into tertiary institutions.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="681" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-1024x681.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7249" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-300x199.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-768x511.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-1536x1021.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-2048x1362.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-370x246.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-270x180.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-570x379.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0739-cropped-740x492.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Sitting at the desks donated to the Oasis of Praise Community Centre are in front from left Tshamani Mathebula, Head Sasol Foundation; Ephraim Sixenzi, Sedibeng East Education District and John Motaung, Director Oasis of Praise. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">A further donation of 100 chairs and desks was made to the Community Learning Centre to the <a href="https://www.education.fs.gov.za/">Free State Department of Education </a>(CETC) in Sasolburg. This centre, that focuses on adult education, was built by Sasol and officially handed over to the Free State Department of Education in 2024. The new centre however lacked the required furniture to allow for full utilisation of the new facility. Sasol augmented its original donation, making a further contribution to the centre by providing the required pieces of furniture.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="681" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-1024x681.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7248" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-300x199.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-768x511.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-1536x1021.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-2048x1362.jpg 2048w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-370x246.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-270x180.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-570x379.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/DSC_0702-740x492.jpg 740w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The donated desks and chairs being utilised by students at the Community Learning Centre to the Free State in Sasolburg. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">According to Tshamani Mathebula, Head Sasol Foundation, the company is committed to being a catalyst for positive change and driving shared socio-economic value, with a strong focus on improving educational infrastructure.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>“Sasol aims to enhance educational outcomes by supplying essential resources for learners. In addition, a recent baseline study done by Sasol recommended the review and allocation of resources to improve direct impacts of education programmes in our fenceline communities such as the Vaal Triangle. We trust that the donation of these desks and chairs will augment the learning experience and academic success of learners and students making use of the centres’ services,”</em> said Mathebula.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGS) is a global observance established by the United Nations to highlight the vital role women and girls play in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Celebrated annually on 11 February, the day seeks to address the persistent gender gap in STEM fields and promote equal access to education, career opportunities, and leadership roles for women. The 2025 theme, &#8220;Imagine a World with More Women in Science,&#8221; aims to inspire young women, amplify the contributions of female scientists, and encourage policies that drive gender equality in STEM.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Logistics Cost Model helps Sasol International Chemicals improve cost transparency</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A trio of <a href="https://www.rice.edu/">Rice University</a> MBA students in Houston, Texas, recently completed a unique three-month project – dubbed Bring to Life – with Sasol International Chemicals’ Customer Fulfillment team, designed to evaluate the logistics cost model in SAP. Through Sasol, Rice University students, Sanober Hussain, Daniel DeRuiter and Emil Binney experienced real-world industry challenges and rewards first-hand.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The logistics cost components involved in delivering chemical intermediates to end customers are intricate. Expenses related to transportation, storage, and handling services, which are managed by contracted third-party logistics providers (3PLs), vary based on specific product attributes. This complexity makes it challenging to manage and optimize costs effectively.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7168" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-300x225.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-768x576.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-370x278.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-270x203.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-570x428.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-740x555.jpg 740w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10-80x60.jpg 80w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RIce-10.jpg 2016w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To tackle this management challenge, the Customer Fulfillment team recognized the necessity for a comprehensive analytical model capable of pinpointing the total cost of ownership for logistics. The model was developed to capture and report logistics costs at a detailed level, offering the logistics operations team greater visibility for making cost-efficient decisions and allocating expenses at the sales order level. Additionally, it enhances integration with 3PLs by regularly receiving contracted freight costs. Since its inception, the tool has demonstrated its effectiveness by accurately streamlining cost tracking and allocation across various logistics departments.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“The logistics cost model has great potential and should have broader impact on optimizing operations and driving efficiency across the company,” said Sharendra Panday, senior manager of logistics in the U.S. “But we didn’t have the resources internally to study the issue.”</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">So, when Professor Todd Cimino, an operations management lecturer at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice, was seeking a hands-on project for students in the Supply Chain Studio segment of his class, Sasol was an ideal partner.</p>
</blockquote>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“These types of projects mean a lot to the students,” said Cimino. “They give students access to real-world problems they can solve and enable them to build skills you can’t get in a classroom.”</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7169" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-300x225.jpg 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-768x576.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-370x278.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-270x203.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-570x428.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-740x555.jpg 740w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8-80x60.jpg 80w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-8.jpg 2016w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Collaborating with Cimino, Panday, and Keith Chow, Sasol customer enablement specialist based in Houston, the students conducted a comprehensive analysis comparing the model&#8217;s cost data with Sasol’s actual invoices.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After validating the model’s accuracy, the students engaged with stakeholders throughout Sasol to assess their perception of the tool. Their efforts led to a comprehensive plan designed to enhance the model&#8217;s utilization cross-functionally. Recommendations included establishing a pilot group for training and testing, relaunching the tool with targeted messaging for various stakeholder groups, collecting data on tool usage, and fostering continuous improvement through user feedback.</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">These types of projects mean a lot to the students. They give students access to real-world problems they can solve and enable them to build skills you can’t get in a classroom. &#8211;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Todd Cimino, Professor at Jones Graudate School of Business, Rice University</p>
</blockquote>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“Bring to Life&nbsp;was a mixture of data analysis, project management and change management,” said DeRuiter. “It was a great learning experience.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The students especially enjoyed the opportunity to conduct stakeholder interviews across the company and talk with employees about their jobs.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“Everyone had a great perspective to share,” said Hussain. “It was clear that everyone is very interested in improving efficiency.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The project ended in the first half of 2024 with a student presentation to their peers and educators. Among those in attendance were members of the executive leadership team.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“It was amazing to present to such a high-level group, and have such a good discussion,” said Binney. “I hope our project brings tangible financial benefits to Sasol.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chow said the students’ work has been helpful in determining next steps.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="alignright size-medium"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="225" height="300" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-225x300.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7171" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-225x300.jpg 225w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-370x493.jpg 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-270x360.jpg 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-570x760.jpg 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-740x987.jpg 740w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Rice-6-scaled.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“Going forward, we plan to reintroduce the model to various functional groups within Sasol to improve awareness and adoption of the tool,” said Chow. “We also want to explore opportunities to integrate the model with other existing tools to enhance user experience.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For Cimino,&nbsp;Bring to Life&nbsp;was the start of what he hopes is a long relationship.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“I hope this project underscores the developing relationship we have between Sasol International Chemicals and Rice Business,” said Cimino. “Both sides can benefit, but it takes commitment to make it work. This project was a great start.”</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This year’s Sasol Grade 12 Merit Awards marked a 30-year milestone of rewarding excellence in matric performance.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Held in Secunda on 24 January, the awards are a highlight of the matric results season and reward Grade 12 top achievers with bursaries cash incentives and certificates of recognition, with a focus on who obtained distinctions in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and other non-STEM subjects.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The learners recognised in the Sasol Grade 12 Merit Awards are from schools in Govan Mbeki Local Municipality, Dipaleseng Local Municipality, Lekwa Municipality, Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, Nkomazi Municipality and part of Mbombela Municipality.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A total of four bursaries were awarded to top achievers, with 73 top achievers receiving cash incentives. The funds go towards each recipient’s university registration fees.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A total of 313 learners in the Standerton Sub-District, eManzana and Ehlanzeni fenceline schools received a cash award per distinction for achieving a minimum of 3 distinctions in identified subject.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“As part of Sasol’s education strategy, we will continue to support STEM education from Grade R to 12 to prepare our learners for the future world of work and increase the pool of learners with subjects relevant for scarce skills,” said Khumbulani Cele, Senior Vice President Secunda Operations.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2024 | Chem Expo Volunteers</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Nearly 140 Sasol volunteers, including Lake Charles employees and retirees, bring our products to life!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Nearly 140 employees introduced 2,300 students to the chemistry behind Sasol’s products at the 2024 Chem Expo.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For over 20 years, middle school students in the Lake Charles, Louisiana area have had the opportunity to engage with science through the annual Chem Expo, organized by the Lake Area Industry Alliance (LAIA).</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This industry-led event showcases scientific experiments and educates students about the chemical products manufactured in their community. Thanks to the&nbsp;140 employees and retirees&nbsp;dedicating their time to volunteer, Sasol marked the 2024 Chem Expo&nbsp;its largest volunteer initiative to date.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At this year&#8217;s Chem Expo, Sasol employees demonstrate the production and application of surfactants, emphasizing their vital role in everyday life. This initiative enables Sasol&#8217;s commitment to creating a culture that people want to be a part of, unlocking value through creativity and innovation. By enhancing awareness of the chemical industry&#8217;s impact, Sasol aims to inspire early interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), nurturing the next generation of innovators.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2023 | Chem Expo Volunteers</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">More than 100 employees donate their time at the Chem Expo to spark an interest in science and engineering as volunteers.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Inspiring the next generation of engineers and scientists is one of the many ways that Sasol’s Lake Charles operations gives back to the community.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The annual Chem Expo in Southwest Louisiana is a major component of that effort. Each year, 2,000 seventh-grade students from schools in nearby Calcasieu and Cameron parishes attend the event to see first-hand how mastering science, technology, math and engineering (STEM) can be fun – and lead to a rewarding career.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At the 2023 Chem Expo, 120 employees volunteered to help introduce students to the science behind Sasol’s products. It was the company’s largest volunteer event ever.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="845" height="561" src="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1-Photo_2023_ChemExpo.png" alt="" class="wp-image-7056" srcset="https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1-Photo_2023_ChemExpo.png 845w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1-Photo_2023_ChemExpo-300x199.png 300w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1-Photo_2023_ChemExpo-768x510.png 768w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1-Photo_2023_ChemExpo-370x246.png 370w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1-Photo_2023_ChemExpo-270x179.png 270w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1-Photo_2023_ChemExpo-570x378.png 570w, https://society.sasol.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1-Photo_2023_ChemExpo-740x491.png 740w" sizes="(max-width: 845px) 100vw, 845px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The volunteers’ focus was demonstrating how surfactants are produced and used and the importance they have in modern living, from personal care to household cleaners. The goal was to raise awareness of industry&#8217;s role in the students’ everyday lives and spark an interest in STEM at an early age.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For more than 20 years, Lake Charles, Louisiana-area middle school students have witnessed science in action through the annual Chem Expo, organized by Lake Area Industry Alliance (LAIA).</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chem Expo is an industry-led, science experiment showcase with a focus on educating local students on the ingredients made in their local communities and the consumer products they enable.&nbsp; Sasol was one of the original founders of Chem Expo.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chemicals are a billion-dollar industry in Southwest Louisiana, offering unlimited workplace opportunities. In total, more than 12,000 local residents are employed by the industry.</p>
