Information Event for Our New Apprentices

On 24 June 2024, we hosted an exciting and informative event for our future apprentices in Brunsbüttel, marking an important step in their onboarding process and a great start to their apprenticeship at Sasol. This initial meeting bridges the gap between receiving an apprenticeship offer and starting the role, promoting early engagement and easing their entry into the company.

We will welcome 22 new apprentices: 15 chemical technicians, 3 chemical laboratory technicians, 3 industrial mechanics, and 1 industrial clerk, bringing the total number of apprentices at our Brunsbüttel site to 62 on 2 September 2024. We are thrilled to start this journey with our new team members!

The event began with a warm welcome, an introduction round, a safety film, and an icebreaker game, “My Seat Neighbor.” We then discussed expectations and concerns, noted on flipcharts, and provided information about the vocational school. This was followed by a company presentation delivered by two of our current apprentices.

We also recorded clothing sizes to ensure everything will be ready for the first working day and assigned the project ‘Plant Regulations,’ along with some small homework tasks. A shared lunch in our company restaurant provided an opportunity to get to know the new colleagues better. After lunch, we described the respective training processes and conducted a tour of the training areas. The day concluded with a feedback round, and each new apprentice received a Sasol backpack with additional giveaways.

The feedback was consistently positive, with the day being perceived as very informative and well-structured. The anticipation for the start of the apprenticeship is growing – even for us! We look forward to the beginning of the apprenticeship and the new challenges ahead.

At Sasol, we believe that the foundation of a successful career begins with a strong and supportive onboarding process. This event not only serves as an introduction to our work environment and culture but also underscores our commitment to developing the next generation of skilled professionals. By fostering early connections among apprentices and with the broader Sasol team, we aim to create a sense of belonging and community from day one. The hands-on experiences and interactive sessions provided during the event are designed to empower our apprentices with the confidence and knowledge they need to thrive in their new roles.
